UDHAMPUR, February 1, 2026 — In a major offensive against the drug trade, the Udhampur Police have significantly intensified their operations under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan initiative throughout January 2026.
This sustained campaign has led to the registration of 15 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, resulting in the arrest of 22 individuals and the seizure of nine vehicles used for smuggling.
The department’s rigorous approach also saw a breakthrough in the courtroom, with one high-profile NDPS case culminating in a successful conviction, highlighting the strength of their investigative and legal procedures.
The financial impact on the local narcotics trade has been substantial, with authorities recovering contraband valued at approximately ₹1.42 crore on the black market. The seizures included 202 grams of heroin and nearly 17 kilograms of poppy straw. Beyond the drugs themselves, the police have aggressively targeted the financial infrastructure of traffickers by attaching assets worth ₹1.50 crore.
These attached properties, linked to four separate NDPS cases, include two residential houses, a truck, and two cars, marking a resolute step toward dismantling the economic foundations of drug syndicates in the region.
