Udhampur Police Arrest Two “Hardcore” Drug Peddlers; Heroin Seized in Separate Anti-Narcotics Operations
UDHAMPUR, March 23, 2026 — In a major blow to local drug trafficking networks, the Udhampur Police have arrested two notorious peddlers and recovered a total of 15.1 grams of heroin in two distinct operations.
These arrests are part of an ongoing, intensified crackdown against the narcotics trade within the district.The first apprehension occurred at a checkpoint in Ramnagar, where a police team intercepted a suspicious individual attempting to flee upon spotting the “naka” party.
The suspect, identified as Ram Puri (son of Chuni Lal, a resident of Ward No. 02, Ramnagar), was found in possession of 7.28 grams of heroin during a personal search.
Authorities noted that Puri is a habitual offender with a prior criminal record involving drug-related offenses. Following the recovery, FIR No. 39/2026 was registered at the Ramnagar Police Station under the NDPS Act.
In a second successful operation, police personnel on routine patrol near Moon Light Bar in Teli Bari observed a man sitting by the roadside under suspicious circumstances.
The individual, identified as Dhananjay Partap (son of the late Naresh Chand Anthal, a resident of Chenani), was searched, leading to the recovery of 7.82 grams of heroin.
A separate case, FIR No. 11/2026, has been filed against him at the Ramnagar Police Station. Investigations into both cases are currently underway to trace the backward and forward linkages of the seized contraband.
