Udhampur Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers; Heroin Seized at Jakheni Naka
UDHAMPUR 30 December :- As part of its intensified “War on Drugs” campaign, the Udhampur Police successfully apprehended two notorious drug peddlers and recovered a significant quantity of heroin during a routine security check today.
A police team from Police Station Udhampur, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), Purab Singh intercepted a motorcycle (registration number JK14K-6221) at the Jakheni naka point. Upon conducting a thorough personal search of the suspects, officers recovered a total of 5.98 grams of heroin.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rohit Kumar, son of Raj Kumar, and Vinod Kumar, son of Sumer Chand, both residents of the Chopra Shop area in Udhampur. Specifically, 3.65 grams of the contraband were recovered from Rohit Kumar, while 2.33 grams were found in the possession of Vinod Kumar.
Following the recovery, authorities registered Case FIR No. 432/2025 under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.Udhampur Police officials stated that a detailed investigation is currently underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the seized narcotics.
Reaffirming their commitment to making the district drug-free, the police department has urged the general public to actively cooperate by sharing any information regarding drug trafficking or substance abuse to help safeguard the community.
