UDHAMPUR, December 26, 2025: As part of an intensified and sustained crackdown on narcotics smuggling, the Udhampur Police successfully apprehended a notorious drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of heroin during a routine patrol today. The operation took place near Circular Road, Udhampur, where an alert patrolling party from the Udhampur Police Station intercepted a suspicious individual.
Upon questioning, the suspect was identified as Rafiq, son of Bansi, a resident of Kud, Tehsil Chenani, currently residing at Jojrian Talab, Udhampur.During a subsequent personal search of the suspect, police officials recovered a transparent poly pack containing 6.45 grams of heroin. Following the recovery, the accused was taken into custody, and a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 429/2025 at Police Station Udhampur.
The charges have been filed under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.Authorities have confirmed that a detailed investigation is currently underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the seized contraband.
