Udhampur Police Arrest Drug Peddler with Heroin at Roun Domail Checkpoint

UDHAMPUR | January 16, 2026 — As part of an ongoing crackdown on narcotics, the Udhampur Police successfully apprehended a drug peddler and recovered a quantity of heroin during a routine check at the Roun Domail area. A police team stationed at the Naka Point intercepted an individual traveling from Manwal toward Udhampur.

The suspect was identified as Tariq Saleem, son of Ghulam Nabi, originally from Ramban and currently residing in Bharat Nagar, Udhampur. Upon conducting a personal search, police officers recovered 3.81 grams of a heroin-like substance from his possession. Following the recovery, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 14/2026 at the Udhampur Police Station, citing sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act. Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation to trace the source of the drugs and determine if there are further links to a larger smuggling network.
