Udhampur Police Apprehend Two Inter-District Drug Peddlers with Heroin in Chenani
UDHAMPUR, April 03, 2026 — In a major success against the narcotics trade, the Udhampur Police successfully intercepted an inter-district drug smuggling attempt at Chenani, leading to the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of heroin.
During a routine traffic and security check at the Motor Shed naka, a police team from Police Station Chenani stopped a Kashmir-bound Toyota Glanza taxi for inspection.
Upon conducting a thorough personal search of the four occupants, officers discovered two transparent poly-packs containing a total of 5.09 grams of heroin (2.59 grams and 2.50 grams respectively) concealed by the driver and the co-driver.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Tawheed Ahmad Khan, son of Jan Mohd Khan and resident of Humdaniya Colony Bemina, Srinagar, and Nayyeem Ahmad Akhoon, son of Ghulam Mohidin Akhoon and resident of Mir Bagh Chattabal, Srinagar.
Following the discovery, the police officially registered FIR No. 55/2026 under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Chenani.
While the accused are currently in custody, a detailed investigation is underway to trace the origin of the contraband and identify further links in the smuggling network.
This operation underscores the heightened vigilance of the district police in their ongoing mission to make Udhampur “Nasha Mukt” (Drug-Free).
