Udhampur Police Apprehend Drug Peddler with Heroin on Circular Road

UDHAMPUR, Feb 17, 2026 – In a significant move against the local narcotics trade, the Udhampur Police successfully arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered a quantity of heroin during a routine patrol on Circular Road.

The arrest occurred when a patrolling party from the Udhampur Police Station observed a man acting suspiciously while traveling from the Saillan Talab area toward the Matador Stand.

Upon spotting the police vehicle, the individual attempted to evade the officers by quickly turning back and walking away in haste. However, the police team acted swiftly to intercept and detain him.

The suspect has been identified as Mohd. Saleem, son of Shab Din and a resident of Ward No. 48, Gujjar Basti, Bahu Fort, Jammu. During a subsequent personal search, officers recovered 5.67 grams of heroin from his possession.

Following the recovery, a formal case has been registered at the Udhampur Police Station under FIR No. 48/2026, invoking Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.

A detailed investigation is currently underway to determine the source of the contraband and any potential links to a larger drug trafficking network.
