UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER 24, 2025: Udhampur Police have arrested a notorious narcotics absconder who had managed to evade the law for five years.
The operation, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Udhampur, resulted in the capture of Akhter Hussain, son of Mohd. Ayoub and a resident of Sial Sallan. Hussain was wanted in connection with FIR No. 576/2020 under Sections 8/21/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Despite the case being registered in 2020, the accused had been on the run, prompting the Honorable Additional Sessions Court Udhampur to issue an arrest warrant under Section 299 of the CrPC to ensure he was brought to justice.Following a meticulous intelligence-led operation, the police team tracked down and apprehended the absconder.
Following his arrest, he was produced before the Honorable Court, which subsequently ordered him to be lodged in District Jail Udhampur. This arrest underscores the relentless commitment of the Udhampur Police to track down long-term fugitives and clean the region of drug-related crimes.
By successfully executing this high-profile warrant, the district police have sent a strong message that no offender, regardless of how long they have been in hiding, can escape the reach of the law.
