Udhampur Highway Tragedy: CRPF Personnel Among Four Killed in Fatal Road Accident Near Sharda Mata NH 44 Udhampur
Udhampur, January 27, 2026: A horrific road accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has claimed four lives, including a CRPF personnel, near the Sharda Mata area of Udhampur here today.
Preliminary reports indicate that the disaster was caused by a bus traveling toward Udhampur, which was allegedly being driven in a rash manner. The speeding vehicle first collided violently with a motorcycle, resulting in the immediate death of the rider.
The tragedy escalated as the out-of-control bus then plowed into two mechanics who were engaged in repairing a Mahindra load carrier parked on the roadside.
Both mechanics sustained fatal injuries and were killed instantly, while another individual was reportedly injured in the chaos.
Teams from the CRPF and local Police rushed to the scene to initiate rescue operations and are currently investigating the precise circumstances of the crash.
While the loss of the CRPF personnel has been confirmed, the full identities of all the deceased are still being established as further details are awaited.
