UDHAMPUR, February 11, 2026 — Strengthening its ongoing offensive against narcotics, the Udhampur Police successfully apprehended two drug peddlers in two separate operations within the Rehambal jurisdiction. In the first case, a police team from PS Rehambal intercepted a vehicle during a routine check.
The occupant, identified as Momin Hussain, a resident of Pattan, Baramulla, was found in possession of 10.48 grams of heroin during a personal search. Consequently, the police registered FIR No. 34/2026 under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act and have launched a full investigation into the source of the contraband.In a second successful operation near Zero Morh, a patrolling party noticed a suspicious individual attempting to evade them while traveling from Phalata toward Garhi.
The individual, identified as Ashwani Sharma, a resident of Jib Majalta, Udhampur, was intercepted and searched, leading to the recovery of 3 grams of heroin.
A separate case, FIR No. 33/2026, has been registered at PS Rehambal to address this offense. These arrests underscore the department’s commitment to a “Zero Tolerance” policy toward drug trafficking in the region, with further investigations currently underway to dismantle potential local distribution networks.
