Udhampur Drug Crackdown: Two Hardcore Peddlers Arrested with Heroin in Rehambal

UDHAMPUR, Jan 10 (2026): In a major blow to the local narcotics trade, the Udhampur Police successfully apprehended two notorious drug peddlers and recovered a consignment of heroin during a routine security check.

A police team from Police Station Rehambal, stationed at a checkpoint near the Kali Mata Mandir, intercepted a WagonR car (JK14C-9728) traveling from Phalata toward the Garhi area.

Upon searching the vehicle and its occupants, security officials discovered 4.23 grams of heroin in their possession. The accused were unable to provide any legal justification for the substance, leading to their immediate detention and the seizure of the vehicle.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Manik Oberoi, a resident of Garhi, and Sachin Kumar, a resident of Rehambal.

Following the recovery, a formal case (FIR No. 008/2025) was registered under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Rehambal Police Station.

Authorities have characterized the duo as “hardcore” peddlers and are currently conducting a deeper investigation to trace the forward and backward linkages of the drug supply chain.

This arrest is part of an intensified district-wide campaign aimed at making Udhampur drug-free ahead of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
