Udhampur DEO Minga Sherpa Flags Off IEC Van to Boost Panchayat Electoral Roll Revision 2026 Awareness
UDHAMPUR, April 03, 2026 — To ensure maximum public participation in the strengthening of grassroots democracy, District Election Officer (DEO) Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, officially flagged off a specialized Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Van from the DC Office Complex today.
The initiative, launched in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh and Deputy District Election Officer Babu Pradeep Kumar, is designed to generate mass awareness regarding the ongoing Annual Revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll 2026.
This mobile outreach unit will traverse the length and breadth of the district, utilizing audio-visual tools to disseminate critical information about the procedures for the inclusion, deletion, correction, and transposition of names in the voter lists, ensuring no eligible citizen is left behind.Interacting with the media during the ceremony, DEO Minga Sherpa emphasized that an accurate and updated electoral roll is the fundamental bedrock of a robust democratic process at the local level.
He issued a special appeal to young residents who have attained the qualifying age of 18 as of April 1, 2026, urging them to proactively verify their details and register themselves during this revision window.
By taking the registration process directly to the doorsteps of rural communities, the district administration aims to simplify the enrollment experience and achieve 100% error-free electoral rolls.
