UDHAMPUR, January 20, 2026 — Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, conducted a field inspection today to review the progress of the widening and drainage construction on the Garhi Gathyal road, a key project under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that high-quality road connectivity is a cornerstone for the socio-economic development of the region and is vital for ensuring hassle-free transportation for local residents.
To prevent any delays in the project timeline, she issued immediate instructions to the Assistant Commissioner Revenue to identify and remove all roadside encroachments, ensuring the construction team has an unobstructed path for proper road alignment.
Furthering the focus on infrastructure durability, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Engineer, PMGSY, to expedite the drainage work alongside the road widening. She stressed that these components must be completed within the stipulated timeframe to ensure safe and smooth vehicular movement, especially during inclement weather.
By prioritizing the removal of bottlenecks and maintaining strict oversight on construction standards, the administration aims to deliver a modernized transit route that will significantly improve the daily commute and commercial activities in the Garhi Gathyal area.
