Tragic Hit-and-Run Near Jaganu Morh Udhampur: Scooty Rider Loses Life
UDHAMPUR, Feb 20, 2026 — A tragic road accident claimed the life of a young man late Thursday evening near Jaganu Morh on Dhar Road, Udhampur. The victim, identified as Deepak Kumar, son of Bittu Ram and a resident of Roun Domail, was traveling home on his scooty when an unidentified speeding vehicle struck him with immense force. Following the collision, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately, leaving the critically injured youth behind.
Local bystanders rushed to the spot and evacuated Deepak to the Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur for emergency treatment. However, despite their efforts, doctors at the facility declared him brought dead upon arrival.
Upon receiving notification of the incident, the Udhampur Police took custody of the body and shifted it to the hospital mortuary. Following a post-mortem examination conducted on Friday, the Dead body of the deceased were handed over to the grieving family members for last rites. The Police have officially registered a case and launched a high-priority investigation to track down the absconding driver and the vehicle involved in the fatal crash.
