Jammu January 01, 2026:-A month-long struggle for life ended in tragedy as a 27-year-old woman from the Billawar area of Kathua district succumbed to her injuries at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu on New Year’s Day.
The deceased, identified as Hasina Bano, wife of Mohd Hafiz, had been undergoing intensive treatment since late November following a devastating domestic accident. According to medical records, she was admitted to the facility on November 28, 2025, with approximately 40% burn injuries sustained during a cooking gas cylinder blast at her residence.
Initially rushed to GMC Kathua by her father, she was subsequently referred to the specialized burn unit at GMCH Jammu due to the severity of her condition.
Despite the best efforts of the medical team over the past several weeks, her condition deteriorated, and she passed away today at approximately 4:56 PM. Following the incident, hospital authorities shifted the body to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Police have been informed, and necessary legal formalities are being conducted to investigate the circumstances of the blast.
