Traffic Advisory: NH-44 Highway Closed Due to Heavy Snowfall Near Navyug Tunnel

Srinagar, January 27, 2026: Authorities have issued a fresh traffic advisory following heavy snowfall that has completely halted movement on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44). As of 09:30 hrs, the strategic artery remains closed due to significant snow accumulation specifically between the Qazigund and Banihal stretches, particularly around the Navyug Tunnel.

No vehicular movement is currently permitted from either Jammu towards Srinagar or vice versa. Commuters are strongly advised to postpone their journeys and avoid traveling on NH-44 until the road is fully cleared by restoration teams and officially declared safe for traffic. In addition to the main highway, other critical routes including the Mughal Road, SSG Road, and Sinthan Road also remain closed due to the inclement weather and slippery conditions.

Passengers are urged not to rely on rumors and instead verify the latest road and flight statuses through official channels, such as the Traffic Police’s official social media handles or by contacting the Traffic Control Units (TCUs) in Jammu (0191-2459048), Srinagar (0194-2450022), or Ramban (9419993745).
