Three Kashmiri Workers’ Mortal Remains Repatriated from Kullu Landslide, Reach Srinagar

Srinagar 06 September :- The mortal remains of three Kashmiri workers, who tragically lost their lives in a landslide in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, were repatriated with full dignity and reached Srinagar on Saturday.

The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) detailed that while seven workers were killed in the incident, only three bodies have been recovered so far. Initially set for a road journey in load carriers, the transportation plan was changed after the JKSA urgently appealed to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office and Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena. Following their immediate intervention, the road transport was halted, and the bodies were airlifted for a swift and respectful return.

The remains were flown from Chandigarh Airport to Srinagar, from where they are now being transported via ambulance to their respective native towns for the final rites. The entire cost for the airlift and transportation was borne by the Himachal Pradesh Government, with the Jammu and Kashmir Government providing ambulance services.

The JKSA expressed profound gratitude to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena for their compassionate and swift action, while also acknowledging the support from the J&K administration.

Meanwhile, rescue operations in Kullu continue intensively to locate the four remaining workers still buried under the debris.
