SSP Udhampur Inaugurates Martyr PSI Deepak Sharma Memorial Sports Tournament

UDHAMPUR | April 1, 2026 — In a poignant tribute to bravery and athletic spirit, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur, Shri Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS, officially inaugurated the volleyball segment of the Martyr PSI Deepak Sharma Memorial Sports Tournament today.

This multi-sport event features a diverse lineup of competitions, including Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Tug of War, and Badminton, drawing a large number of enthusiastic local athletes.

A total of six specialized volleyball teams from across the district have registered to compete, underscoring the community’s commitment to honoring the legacy of the fallen officer through healthy competition and sportsmanship.

The tournament’s opening ceremony was highlighted by an intense inaugural volleyball match between Fusion Volleyball Club and Udhampur Volleyball Club. After a spirited display of skill and teamwork, Udhampur Volleyball Club emerged victorious, setting a high standard for the remainder of the competition.

Beyond the scoreboard, the event serves a dual purpose: it acts as a fitting memorial for Martyr PSI Deepak Sharma while simultaneously functioning as a vital community outreach initiative.

By engaging the local youth in constructive physical activities, the district police aim to foster a sense of discipline and promote a drug-free society through the positive influence of sports.
