SSP Reasi Reviews Security at Vaishno Devi Bhawan Ahead of New Year Rush

REASI, DECEMBER 28: With a massive influx of pilgrims expected at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine for the year-end celebrations, SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh, chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Bhawan today. The session focused on finalizing a robust safety framework to manage the anticipated surge of devotees on December 31 and New Year’s Day.

Singh directed all security agencies and departmental heads to maintain a state of high alert, emphasizing that proactive measures are essential to ensuring a seamless and secure pilgrimage during the peak festive window.

A primary concern addressed during the meeting was the implementation of foolproof crowd management strategies. To prevent stampede-like situations and congestion at sensitive bottleneck points, the SSP mandated the optimum use of dedicated crowd management applications and constant surveillance through the Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC).

He underscored that the ICCC must serve as the nerve center for real-time coordination, allowing for swift decision-making and immediate response to any emerging situation on the ground.

The meeting saw participation from a wide array of stakeholders, including Addl. SP Katra Vipan Chandran, DySP Bhawan Mahesh Sharma, and representatives from the 6th Bn CRPF, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Army, CID, and ITBP.

All wings, including the Fire & Emergency Services and the local SDM, were instructed to maintain seamless inter-agency coordination to tackle any unforeseen exigencies. The collective leadership reaffirmed their commitment to providing a hassle-free and safe spiritual experience for the thousands of devotees traveling to the holy shrine this week.
