PUNE, January 31, 2026 – The 43rd Senior National Rowing Championship reached a spectacular conclusion today at the Army Rowing Node (ARN), located within the College of Military Engineering (CME) under the Mission Olympics Wing. This premier event further solidified Pune’s status as a cornerstone of India’s rowing ecosystem, showcasing the nation’s growing prowess on the water. The closing ceremony was headlined by Chief Guest Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, who was joined by senior Army officials and the President of the Rowing Federation of India to celebrate the athletes’ achievements.
The competition saw intense rivalry among various state and service teams, highlighting a significant surge in the depth of talent within the sport. A particularly moving segment of the championship was the Para Single Scull event, which stood as a powerful testament to inclusivity and resilience in the national sports arena. In the final standings, the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) claimed the top spot on the podium, followed closely by the Army Sports Control Board (ASCB) in second place. Concluding the event, the Army Commander praised the ARN and CME for their flawless execution of the tournament and reiterated the Indian Army’s steadfast dedication to developing elite athletes capable of competing at the highest international levels.
