Srinagar’s Tulip Garden Hosts Therapeutic Retreat for Patients to Boost Mental Well-being
SRINAGAR, JAMMU & KASHMIR — April 6, 2026The Directorate of Floriculture, Kashmir, in a landmark collaboration with Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, organized a specialized therapeutic visit today for patients from various associated hospitals to the iconic Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden.
Conceived as a holistic healing initiative, the visit aimed to leverage the serene natural environment of the garden to promote mental well-being, encourage social interaction, and provide a refreshing escape from clinical settings. This program underscores a shift toward integrating psychosocial rehabilitation with traditional medical care, allowing patients who are often restricted by health challenges the opportunity to experience the rejuvenating beauty of the Kashmir Valley.
To ensure a seamless and safe experience, the visit was meticulously structured with comprehensive technical oversight, including pre-visit health screenings and the deployment of on-site medical teams for emergency support. The event was jointly coordinated by Dr. Shiny Mohiudin and Dr. Adil Fayaz from the Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS), alongside Altaf Ahmad, Assistant Floriculture Officer, who supervised the group to ensure patient comfort.
This initiative reflects the Directorate’s commitment to making public assets more inclusive and highlights GMC Srinagar’s dedication to a patient-centric approach that recognizes the profound impact of nature on the recovery and rehabilitation process.
