Srinagar Republic Day 2026: Div Com Reviews Bakshi Stadium Preparations, Extends Public Invitation
SRINAGAR, JANUARY 22: In a final push toward the upcoming Republic Day festivities, the Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) of Kashmir, Anshul Garg, conducted a comprehensive inspection of Bakshi Stadium today.
As the primary venue for the national event, the stadium is undergoing rigorous checks to ensure every logistical detail is perfected. Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo and senior officials from the civil and security wings, Garg assessed the podium setup, sound systems, and seating arrangements, emphasizing that all departments must achieve “top-notch” preparedness to honor the significance of the occasion.
To counter the challenge of unpredictable winter weather, the Divisional Commissioner issued specific directives for the installation of waterproof canopies over the spectator stands. He further instructed the Mechanical Engineering Department and other relevant agencies to maintain a high state of alert for snow clearance, ensuring the ground remains accessible regardless of the forecast.
Infrastructure heads from KPDCL, R&B, and PHE provided progress reports, while Garg personally inspected the newly installed video walls designed to enhance the viewing experience for the large crowds expected to attend.Beyond the physical infrastructure, the inspection focused on the smooth execution of the ceremony’s protocol.
Garg reiterated the importance of strict adherence to the National Flag unfurling code and the precise timing of cultural performances. He also mandated high standards for public amenities, including the sanitation of facilities and the timely distribution of refreshments.
Closing the visit on a high note, the Divisional Commissioner extended a warm, open invitation to the general public, encouraging citizens to gather at Bakshi Stadium to celebrate the national festival in a spirit of unity and patriotism.
