SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 21, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, officially inaugurated the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI)-2025 programme today at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Batamaloo. The initiative aims to provide life-saving oral polio drops to approximately two lakh children under the age of five across the district. During the launch, the DC personally administered the vaccine to several toddlers and reviewed the extensive arrangements made by the Health Department.
Emphasizing that Pulse Polio is a critical public health cornerstone, he stated that achieving 100 percent coverage is vital to maintaining Srinagar’s polio-free status and protecting future generations from preventable disability. To ensure the success of this massive health campaign, the district administration has established 668 vaccination booths across all medical zones, supported by a dedicated workforce of nearly 3,000 health officials. In addition to fixed centers, specialized transit vaccination booths have been strategically placed at high-traffic areas to facilitate the public.
Following today’s booth-based activities, the campaign will transition into a comprehensive door-to-door phase starting tomorrow to reach any children who may have been missed.
