Srinagar Police Crack Down on Drug Trade: Property Worth ₹1.6 Crore Attached Under NDPS Act

Srinagar 18 December :- In a major move to dismantle the financial infrastructure of the narcotics trade, the Srinagar Police have officially attached a high-value residential property belonging to a notorious drug peddler.

The enforcement action, carried out by the Nowgam Police Station, involved the seizure of a double-storey house and 12.5 marlas of land located at Auqaf Chowk, Kenihama. Valued at approximately ₹1.6 crore, the property is linked to Liyaqat Ali Bhat, who was previously implicated in FIR No. 128/2022 following the recovery of a significant quantity of Codeine bottles.

Detailed investigations revealed that the assets were not acquired through legal income but were instead built using the illicit proceeds of narcotics trafficking.
The attachment was executed under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, ensuring a heavy blow to the economic backbone of local drug networks. Conducted in the presence of the Executive Magistrate First Class, BK Pora, and independent witnesses, the proceedings followed strict legal protocols to ensure transparency.

Under the terms of the attachment order, the accused is strictly prohibited from selling, leasing, or transferring the property. This operation highlights the Srinagar Police’s ongoing commitment to “Zero Tolerance” against the drug menace, as they continue to use lawful asset seizure to deter criminal activities and safeguard the community.
