Srinagar International Airport Set for ₹1,677 Crore Expansion; LG Sinha Hails CCEA Approval as Economic Game-Changer

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 24, 2026 — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his profound gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday following the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs’ (CCEA) approval of a major expansion for the Civil Enclave at Srinagar International Airport.

The massive project, estimated at ₹1,677 crore, involves the construction of a new 71,500 sqm Civil Enclave designed to handle 2,900 passengers during peak hours and achieve an annual capacity of 10 million passengers.

Highlighting the strategic importance of this development, the Lieutenant Governor noted that the upgrade will transform Srinagar from a beautiful destination into a thriving economic hub by attracting more tourists, investment, and employment opportunities.

In an official statement shared on X, LG Sinha recalled the initial vision for this project set in September 2021 and emphasized that this “defining leap in connectivity” heralds a bold new era for aviation in the Valley.

Furthermore, he provided an update on the broader regional infrastructure, announcing that the new terminal at Jammu Airport is on track for completion by the end of this year.

This advanced infrastructure in Jammu’s spiritual center is expected to catalyze significant economic advancement alongside the improvements in Srinagar, reinforcing the government’s commitment to transforming the Union Territory’s economic future through world-class connectivity.
