Srinagar Airport to Revise Flight Timings for Summer Runway Repair Works Starting April 6
Srinagar | March 27, 2026 — In a major operational update for travelers, the Srinagar Airport Authority has announced a temporary adjustment to daily flight schedules to facilitate essential runway repair and maintenance works.
Commencing in the first week of April, specifically from April 6, 2026, to July 31, 2026, operational hours for scheduled flights will be restricted, with the runway closing for daily operations at 17:00 hrs (5:00 PM). Currently, the airport handles approximately 60 flight movements between 08:00 hrs and 22:00 hrs; however, these hours are being strategically condensed to allow the Indian Air Force to carry out the necessary infrastructure upgrades during the summer months.
Despite the reduction in daily watch hours, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed that the total number of flight movements is expected to increase in alignment with the DGCA-approved Summer Schedule.
Airlines are currently re-calibrating their itineraries to ensure all arrivals and departures fit within the revised morning and afternoon window. The Srinagar Airport Authority remains committed to providing a safe and seamless travel experience and has urged all passengers to verify their flight timings through official airline channels.
Travelers are advised to stay updated and rely solely on verified information from the AAI to avoid any inconvenience during this four-month maintenance period.
