Srinagar Airport Expands Terminal Space; Union Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu Launches New Passenger Facilities
SRINAGAR, March 29,2026 — In a major boost to regional aviation infrastructure, Union Minister of Civil Aviation Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu virtually inaugurated a series of passenger-centric upgrades at Srinagar Airport as part of a nationwide initiative launched from Rajkot.
The most significant enhancement includes the opening of an extended terminal section, which adds approximately 650 square meters to the Security Hold Area (SHA).
This expansion is specifically designed to tackle peak-hour congestion and significantly improve the comfort levels of travelers navigating one of India’s busiest regional hubs.
Beyond the physical expansion, the Minister introduced several digital and lifestyle amenities aimed at modernizing the travel experience in the Kashmir Valley.
Srinagar Airport now features the DigiYatra system, allowing for seamless, paperless entry and faster security processing through facial recognition technology.
Additionally, passengers can now enjoy complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi for up to four hours, ensuring better connectivity for tourists and business travelers alike.To further enrich the waiting period for passengers, the “Flybrary” initiative was also officially launched.
This unique concept provides travelers with access to a curated selection of books, promoting a culture of reading within the terminal.
These upgrades reflect the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s commitment to integrating technology and comfort, ensuring that Srinagar Airport remains equipped to handle growing footfall while maintaining high standards of service and efficiency.
