Spear Corps GOC Reviews Operational Readiness in Silchar; Unveils Bust of War Hero 2/Lt Rajeev Sandhu

SILCHAR, March 14, 2026 — Reinforcing the Indian Army’s commitment to both current security and its rich heritage of valor, Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Spear Corps, conducted a high-level review of operational preparedness at the Masimpur Military Station in Assam.

During his visit, the GOC commended all ranks for their tireless efforts in strengthening regional security and maintaining exceptionally high morale under challenging conditions.

In a poignant tribute to military history, Lt Gen Pendharkar also unveiled a commemorative bust of 2/Lt Rajeev Sandhu at the Rajeev Sandhu Auditorium. The ceremony honored the extraordinary courage and supreme sacrifice of the young officer, who laid down his life on July 19, 1988, while battling the LTTE during Operation Pawan in Sri Lanka.

This tribute serves as a lasting reminder of the “Immortal Honour and Glory” that defines the Indian Army’s ethos of selfless service to the nation.
