JAMMU, February 02, 2026: Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, officially released “Kuliyat Janbaaz Kishtwari,” a comprehensive collection of the legendary Kashmiri poet’s works, during a prestigious literary function at KL Saigal Hall.
Organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with the Chalant Cultural Forum Kishtwar, the event celebrated the enduring legacy of Janbaaz Kishtwari.
The Speaker hailed the late poet as a cultural icon who brought the essence of the Chenab Valley to the forefront of Kashmiri literature through his distinct singing style and profound poetic depth.
He emphasized that such publications are vital for preserving the region’s rich heritage and ensuring that the wisdom of literary giants continues to inspire future generations.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Principal Secretary of the Culture Department, BM Sharma, and Secretary JKAACL, Harvinder Kour, alongside the poet’s family members and a distinguished gathering of scholars.
Speakers at the event, including Professor Shad Ramzan and Manshoor Banihali, praised Kishtwari’s ability to mirror social realities and human emotions through his creative expression.
The program featured a detailed critical analysis of his stylistic nuances and a vibrant poetry session with noted regional poets.
A soulful musical tribute by renowned artists like Gulzar Ganaie and Dr. Deepali Watal concluded the afternoon, during which the JKAACL announced plans to host an All India Kashmiri Mushaira to further promote linguistic harmony and provide a national platform for Kashmiri poets.
