Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather Convenes Multi-Party Meeting Ahead of J&K Assembly Budget Session
JAMMU, January 30, 2026 — In preparation for the upcoming legislative proceedings, the Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, chaired a crucial joint meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) and representatives from all major political parties at the Assembly Secretariat today.
With the Budget Session set to commence on February 2, 2026, the Speaker underscored the collective responsibility of all members to ensure the House functions smoothly and productively.
Prominent leaders in attendance included Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, and Surjit Singh Slathia, among others, who discussed the agenda aimed at addressing critical public grievances.During the session, Speaker Rather emphasized that while healthy debate is the “essence of democracy,” members must maintain strict discipline to uphold the dignity of the House.
He specifically urged party leaders to ensure that the Question Hour—the vital tool for government accountability—remains free from disruptions so that maximum public issues can be addressed. To streamline operations, the Speaker announced that a dedicated media interaction zone has been established at the main entrance, ensuring the lobby and central hall remain exclusive for member use.
Secretary Manoj Kumar Pandita and senior officials also attended the meet, confirming that all logistical arrangements, including improved parking and restricted access to member areas, are in place for a result-oriented session.
