Southern Command Chief Reviews L&T’s Indigenous Defence Manufacturing in Pune
PUNE, February 1, 2026 — Strengthening the push for Atmanirbhar Bharat, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, visited the L&T Precision Engineering & Systems facility in Talegaon, Pune, to evaluate India’s homegrown defence production capabilities.
During the high-level visit, the Army Commander was briefed on an array of sophisticated military hardware, including advanced artillery guns, air defence systems, and combat engineering solutions. L&T showcased its world-class manufacturing infrastructure, utilizing advanced simulation tools and comprehensive testing facilities that allow for the end-to-end development of complex platforms.
The discussions also focused on futuristic requirements for the Indian Army, ensuring that next-generation technologies align with the evolving needs of modern warfare.
Highlighting the critical partnership between the military and private sector, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth commended L&T’s significant contributions to domestic self-reliance. He emphasized that Indian industries serve as the primary engine for building a Tech-Enabled and Future-Ready Army.
By integrating cutting-edge radar systems and automated launchers into the national arsenal, these indigenous efforts directly support the Make in India initiative.
