Sopore Police Solve Dual Fatal Hit-and-Run Cases Using CCTV and Technical Surveillance

SOPORE, January 08, 2026: The Sopore Police have successfully resolved two separate fatal hit-and-run cases through a combination of systematic investigation and advanced technical surveillance, leading to the arrest of both accused individuals.

The first incident, registered at Police Station Tarzoo, involved a hit-and-run at Seer Crossing where an unidentified vehicle struck a scooty rider named Nazir Ahmad.

Despite being rushed to SKIMS Srinagar for specialized treatment, the victim succumbed to his critical injuries.

Investigating officers meticulously analyzed CCTV footage from the vicinity of the accident site, which proved instrumental in identifying the vehicle and tracing the driver, who has since been taken into custody.

In a similar breakthrough, authorities at Police Station Sopore solved a second fatal case involving a pedestrian, Abdul Majeed Dar, who was struck by an unknown scooty rider at Hatlangoo Crossing.

The victim tragically passed away after being hospitalized for grievous injuries. Through coordinated field verification and the strategic use of technical inputs, the Sopore Police team successfully identified and apprehended the accused.

Local officials stated that the resolution of these cases highlights the effectiveness of modern policing and technology in ensuring accountability for road traffic crimes, offering a sense of justice and closure to the grieving families of the victims.
