Sopore, 19 September :- In a major success against narcotics trafficking, Sopore Police today seized a large quantity of poppy straw during a naka checking operation at Sofi Hamam Road, Tarzoo.A load carrier (JK04B-9881), moving from Nigli towards Chankhan, was intercepted and searched. From the vehicle, 54 kgs of poppy straw were recovered.
The driver, identified as Javaid Ahmad Dar, son of Gh. Mohi-ud-Din Dar, resident of Chankhan Sopore, was arrested on the spot.A case under FIR No. 124/2025, U/S 8/15 NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo, and further investigation is underway to identify the supply chain and network behind this consignment.
