Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026: DC Srinagar and SSP Inspect Pantha Chowk Transit Camp to Boost Pilgrim Facilities
SRINAGAR, February 25, 2026 — In a major step toward ensuring a seamless experience for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2026), Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Sundeep Chakravarthy, conducted a comprehensive onsite inspection of the Yatra Transit Camp at Pantha Chowk.
The high-level visit focused on evaluating and augmenting essential infrastructure, including pilgrim registration, high-capacity accommodation, and round-the-clock healthcare services. The Deputy Commissioner specifically reviewed the readiness of the Yatri Facilitation Center, which is tasked with the critical rollout of e-KYC verification and RFID card distribution—technologies designed to streamline the pilgrimage process and enhance real-time security monitoring for thousands of devotees.
During the inspection, DC Labroo issued strict directives to the R&B and Jal Shakti departments to complete all facility upgrades well ahead of the Yatra’s commencement. Emphasis was placed on maintaining rigorous hygiene standards, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water, and the strategic setup of Langars (community kitchens) to provide nutritious meals to travelers.
Accompanied by a team of senior engineers and administrative officers, the DC and SSP underscored the importance of a foolproof security deployment and efficient traffic management plan to prevent congestion at the camp. By fostering close inter-departmental coordination, the Srinagar administration aims to provide a hassle-free and spiritually enriching environment for every pilgrim journeying to the holy cave.
