SHOPIAN, January 26, 2026 – The 77th Republic Day was celebrated across District Shopian today with immense patriotic fervor and community enthusiasm.
The district’s primary celebration took place at the District Police Lines, where DDC Chairperson Bilqees Jan unfurled the National Flag in the presence of SSP Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary. The ceremony underscored a collective commitment to national values and was attended by a diverse gathering of local residents and administrative officials, marking a significant day of pride for the region.The event featured a disciplined parade led by Parade Commander and Probationary IPS officer Chaitanya Giri.
The marching contingents included the District Police Shopian, Lady Police, CRPF 14th Bn, Forest Protection Force, Home Guard, and NCC Cadets from Degree College Shopian, alongside various school groups. Adding to the festive atmosphere, students and youth clubs from across the district performed vibrant cultural programs.
The celebration concluded with a felicitation ceremony where Bilqees Jan distributed prizes and appreciation certificates from the district administration to participants and students for their outstanding performances during the day’s events.
