Shiv Sena suggests ‘ππππ swapping’ to π΄ππ the controversy over SMVD MBBS seats
πΏriority rights for Hindus should begin with Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College: Sahni
Jammu 27 November :-The Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit has suggested seat swapping (transferring students between medical colleges) to douse the growing controversy over the admission list of medical colleges run by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (42 seats for the Muslim community out of a total of 50 seats) and to prevent uncertainty over the future of students.
It also demanded that Hindus be granted minority status by granting educational institutions run by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board priority rights. In a press conference held today at the party’s state central office, state president Manish Sahni stated that he is not in favor of creating confusion and jeopardizing the future of students from any community, and does not want to push Jammu toward a new movement like the one in 2008 (the Shri Amarnath movement).
However, admitting people from other communities, bypassing Hindus, into colleges and universities run by Hindu temples and monasteries is absolutely intolerable. Sahni said that despite the BJP government at the center, Jammu and Kashmir being a Union Territory, and a former BJP leader being the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir (who is also the Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board), all this continued.
Even now, instead of finding a solution, political gains are being made by inflating the controversy. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s (π½π²) statement that Kashmiri candidates will be encouraged to seek admission in countries like Bangladesh or Turkey is also fueling the fire and furthering his vote bank.
Sahni said that while the central government has been in power for the past 11 years, there is no university in India that claims to be pro-Hindu, yet there is a special quota for Hindus.
JMI, meanwhile, has a reservation policy and a Muslim quota for admission. In Punjab, SGPC-run institutions have been granted minority status, reserving 50% of seats for Sikh students. Sahni said that priority for Hindus in educational institutions run by Hindu temples and monasteries ππ πππ right.
This should begin by granting minority status to educational institutions run by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.He πππππ that the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir issue special instructions to ππππ the current situation by ‘swapping’ seats (transferring students between medical colleges) for students from other communities admitted to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College with Hindu students from Kashmir and other colleges.
Additionally, admissions can also be granted to vacant seats in other medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir. This will resolve the issue peacefully and maintain mutual brotherhood.πππππ ππππ ππππ a memorandum πππππππππ πππ πππππ suggestions in submitted to this Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. On this occasion Raju Kapoor and Arvind Kumar were present.
