Jammu:- Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit praised the ongoing campaign of ‘Food and Drug Administration’ against unsafe food practices and submitted a memorandum demanding , strict legal action against adulterators, cancellation of license and ban on purchase of energy drinks by children below 18 years of age.
Senior leaders led by party state chief Manish Sahni todaypersonally met FDA commissioner Smita Sethi and honoured her by presenting a memento while praising the ongoing action by the department against unsafe and adulterated food items.Sahni said that recently under the campaign against unsafe food items, thousands of kilos of rotten meat, fish and adulterated cheese were seized during raids in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sahni said that the festival season is coming. During this time, the greed of earning more money, some traders become active in playing with the health of common people by selling adulterated milk, mawa, ghee, oil and other food items in the markets.
Sahni has demanded to expedite the campaign against adulterators and unsafe food items and to issue instructions to take strict and punishable legal action. Sahni has said that energy drinks (these contain high amounts of caffeine and sugar) are harmful for the health of children and has demanded a ban on energy drinks for children below 18 years of age in Jammu and Kashmir like the Punjab government. Sahni honored FDA Commissioner Mrs. Smita Sethi by presenting her a memento. On this occasion Working President President Sanjeev Kohli was also present.
