Shadow Pharmacy Exposed: Delhi Crime Branch Dismantles ₹70 Lakh Racket Selling Govt Meds
NEW DELHI, April 5, 2026 — In a major crackdown on healthcare corruption, the NR-II unit of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has dismantled a sophisticated criminal network involved in the illegal diversion and sale of government-supplied medicines.
During the high-stakes operation, authorities recovered a massive cache of critical life-saving drugs valued at approximately ₹70 lakhs.
These medicines, which included high-demand items such as Meropenem, Ceftriaxone, and Rabies Antiserum, were originally intended for free distribution to underprivileged patients in government hospitals but were instead being siphoned off for illegal commercial gain.
The investigation led to the arrest of five individuals, including a key hospital insider who allegedly facilitated the theft from within the medical facility.
The successful raid was carried out by a specialized team led by Inspector Neeraj Sharma, operating under the direct guidance of ACP Girish Kaushik and the overall supervision of DCP Pankaj Kumar.
Officials stated that the syndicate’s actions deprived needy citizens of essential healthcare, and further interrogation is underway to identify other potential links in the supply chain and additional hospital staff who may be complicit in the racket.
