Jammu 18 September :- In a significant development, Senior Advocate Nirmal K. Kotwal has publicly withdrawn from representing Aam Aadmi Party MLA Mehraj Malik in proceedings related to the Public Safety Act (PSA), citing the emergence of videos containing alleged anti-national statements.
In a press statement , Kotwal stated that these videos, which were never disclosed to him by the AAP legal team during his briefing, purportedly show the MLA claiming Jammu & Kashmir is not part of India and praising slain militant Burhan Wani and terrorist Masood Azhar.
Declaring that the unity and sovereignty of India are “non-negotiable,” Kotwal condemned the alleged utterances as “extremely insensitive, irresponsible, and detrimental to the cause of national security,” leading him to recuse himself from the case based on his conscience, professional ethics, and commitment to national integrity.
