Poonch January 01, 2026:- Security forces were placed on high alert early this morning after a suspected packet was discovered in close proximity to the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district.
The recovery has triggered an immediate and intensive search operation by the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police to sanitize the area and check for any additional suspicious objects or potential cross-border smuggling attempts.
Authorities are currently maintaining a tight cordon around the site as bomb disposal squads and technical teams examine the contents of the package.
Further details regarding the nature of the recovery are being carefully ascertained to determine if the incident is linked to narcotics, arms smuggling, or an improvised explosive device (IED).
Security officials have stated that information will be shared with the public once the facts are fully established and the area is declared safe.
In the meantime, vigil along the frontier has been heightened to thwart any attempts by anti-national elements to exploit the foggy winter conditions for subversive activities.
