Security Forces Launch Massive Search Operations Following Suspicious Movement in Rajouri, Doda, and Poonch
JAMMU, March 18, 2026 — Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified vigilance and launched coordinated combing operations across the districts of Rajouri, Doda, and Poonch following multiple reports of suspected terrorist activity.
The surge in security measures began late Tuesday night in the Khandli and Palma areas of Rajouri after local residents spotted two suspicious individuals navigating a seasonal nallah (stream) toward a nearby forest.
While no direct contact has been established with the suspects as of Wednesday morning, specialized units from the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police have cordoned off the forested fringes to prevent any potential escape.
Parallel search efforts are also underway in the Marmat region of Doda, a geographically sensitive zone known as a transit corridor for terrorists moving between Doda, Basantgarh in Udhampur, and parts of the Ramban district.
Officials confirmed that additional searches were conducted in the Sarlea area of Doda, as well as Dandi Dhara and Ari Sarooti in Poonch district.
These proactive measures underscore the heightened operational readiness of the security apparatus in the Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley regions, aiming to neutralize threats and ensure the safety of local communities through rapid response and meticulous ground intelligence.
