Doda 14 September :- A cordon and search operation (CASO) is currently underway in the remote Bhallara area of the Thathri region in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of three suspected terrorists. The operation, which involves a joint team of the Indian Army and local police, was launched on Friday evening and continued through the night into Saturday, with security forces intensifying their efforts to locate the suspects.
The information was officially confirmed by a senior police officer on Saturday.Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sandeep Mehta, provided details of the ongoing operation, stating that the security grid was activated immediately after receiving credible intelligence about suspicious movements in the densely forested and mountainous terrain of Bhallara.
“The operation was initiated on Friday evening and it is still ongoing. Our teams are conducting a thorough search of the area,” SSP Mehta said.According to officials on the ground, the security forces have established a tight cordon around the remote village and vast stretches of the surrounding forests to prevent the possible escape of the suspects.
The challenging topography of the region, characterized by thick foliage and steep hills, is making the search operation meticulous and time-consuming. Despite the extensive efforts and the sealing of a large area, there has been no contact with the suspected terrorists so far, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
