BARAMULLA, Jan 4, 2026: In a significant counter-terrorism operation, the Baramulla Police, in coordination with the 53 Bn CRPF, 46 RR, AST, and a specialized Bomb Disposal Squad, busted a terrorist hideout in the Suchliwaran forest area.
Acting on specific and reliable intelligence, the joint team led by DySP Operations Baramulla launched an extensive search operation through the dense forest terrain.
During the sweep, security forces detected a concealed underground hideout which was subsequently dismantled and destroyed after a thorough forensic search.
The recovery from the site included a mix of weaponry and logistical supplies, indicating the hideout’s use as a transit point. Seized items included 24 rusted rounds of AK-47 ammunition (of Pakistani origin), two hand grenades, a wireless antenna, and various tools such as a saw, axe, and wire cutter. Interestingly, the search also yielded domestic items including a three-liter steel canister containing stored meat, expired medicine strips (dated 02/2024), clothing, thermocots, and rotten dates.
The presence of carry bags from Kulgam and older flour bags suggests the hideout had been established for some time. Authorities confirmed that the operation concluded without any loss of life or injury, further neutralizing potential threats in the Baramulla sector.
