Security Forces Bust Terrorist Hideout in Rajouri; IED and Survival Supplies Recovered During Thanamandi Search Operation
RAJOURI, March 12, 2026 — Security forces achieved a significant breakthrough on Thursday by busting a clandestine terrorist hideout and recovering an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in a remote forested area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
The hideout was discovered during a meticulous search operation launched late Wednesday evening by the Indian Army’s Romeo Force in the Chamrer forest belt of Thanamandi. During the course of the operation, troops uncovered a ready-to-use IED alongside a cache of logistical items, including food supplies and clothing, which officials suggest points to the recent presence of terrorists in the rugged terrain.
While no arrests have been made in connection with the recovery so far, the discovery has prompted an immediate escalation in security measures across the region.
Authorities confirmed that security forces have intensified their search-and-cordon operations throughout the surrounding dense jungles to track down the suspects associated with the hideout.
The recovery of the explosive device is seen as a major success in thwarting potential subversive activities in the Rajouri sector, as patrolling units remain on high alert to ensure the area is sanitized of any remaining threats.
