SAMBA, February 02, 2026: Security agencies in the Samba district have been placed on high alert following the recovery of an aircraft-shaped balloon found near the Basantar Border Road today.
The yellow and white balloon, which bears the acronym “PIA” (associated with Pakistan International Airlines), was discovered by local residents in the helipad area of Village Chak Dyala.
Recognizing the potential security implications given the proximity to the border, the villagers immediately notified the local administration.
Upon receiving the report, police and security forces rushed to the site and cordoned off the entire area to conduct a thorough search.
While such balloons are occasionally carried across the border by high-altitude winds, security agencies are treating the incident with gravity to determine its exact origin and intent.
A formal investigation has been launched, and surveillance in the border belt has been intensified to ensure no other suspicious objects are present in the vicinity.
