JAMMU, January 10 2026 : With security forces already on high alert ahead of Republic Day celebrations on January 26, a major security scare emerged in Jammu after a drone was recovered from a residential rooftop in the Gorkha Nagar area of Bahu Fort.
The incident came to light when residents went to their terrace for routine cleaning and discovered a drone entangled in a safety net. The discovery triggered immediate panic among the family members, who promptly notified the Bahu Police Station.
A police team, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), rushed to the spot to seize the device and secure the area for a forensic sweep.The recovery has put intelligence and security agencies on high alert, as investigators probe whether the drone originated from across the border or was being operated locally for reconnaissance.
A formal case has been registered at the Bahu Police Station, and technical experts are currently analyzing the drone’s flight logs and storage data to determine its flight path and intended purpose.
Given the strategic location of the Bahu Fort area and the upcoming national celebrations, security has been further intensified across Jammu, with increased patrolling and intensified checkpoint frisking to thwart any potential aerial or ground-based threats.
