Satish Sharma Launches Jammu–Amritsar Bus Service to Golden Temple for Pilgrims

JAMMU, January 14, 2026 — Minister for Transport and Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Satish Sharma, officially flagged off a new J&KRTC bus service connecting Jammu to Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar today.

The inaugural ceremony, held at Gurdwara Chand Nagar, marks a significant effort to enhance inter-state connectivity and facilitate affordable, safe travel for devotees and tourists. Speaking at the launch, Satish Sharma emphasized that this direct service would not only ease the journey for pilgrims visiting the revered Sikh shrine but also bolster religious tourism and cultural ties between Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab.

As a gesture of further support to the site, the Minister also announced the installation of 10 high-mast solar lights for the Gurdwara.Later in the day, the Minister continued his public outreach by participating in the Khajuria Biradari congregation at Bagh-e-Bahu, where he engaged with community members regarding local issues and social harmony.

Highlighting the government’s push for renewable energy, he announced another 10 solar lights for the local Dev Sathan to improve safety and amenities for visitors.

To conclude his visit, Minister Satish Sharma paid obeisance at the Bawe Wali Mata Mandir at Bahu Fort on the auspicious eve of Makar Sankranti, reiterating the administration’s dedication to preserving cultural values and upgrading facilities at religious landmarks throughout the region.
