JAMMU, January 14, 2026 — Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, officially felicitated the Jammu and Kashmir athletes today for their historic performance at the Khelo India Beach Games 2026.
The Union Territory’s contingent secured a total of five medals—two gold, two silver, and one bronze—while remarkably clinching the Overall Men’s Championship Trophy in Pencak Silat.
Highlighting the significance of the victory, the Minister noted that this achievement marks the first time a northern state has emerged as the overall men’s champion in coastal combat sports, signaling a major shift in the region’s sporting landscape.
During the ceremony, Satish Sharma praised the athletes and coaches for their technical excellence and resilience, especially in dominating traditional coastal and sporting states in the Pencak Silat category. He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing training infrastructure and athlete welfare, stating that J&K is rapidly emerging as a national sporting powerhouse.
