Satish Sharma Discusses New J&K Cricket Stadia at Viksit Bharat Dialogue 2026

NEW DELHI, JANUARY 11, 2026 — Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, IT, Youth Services & Sports, and Transport, Satish Sharma, participated in the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

This national platform, held from January 9 to 12 under the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision, gathered innovators and policymakers to discuss India’s path to becoming a developed nation. During the event, the Minister engaged in thematic tracks covering Aatmanirbhar Bharat, MSME support, and youth entrepreneurship, while also serving as a jury member to evaluate innovative, youth-led projects.

Highlighting the immense potential of Jammu and Kashmir in sectors like IT, tourism, and handicrafts, Sharma emphasized that nurturing grassroots entrepreneurs through “Vocal for Local” initiatives is essential for achieving inclusive and sustainable national growth.

Following the dialogue, Minister Satish Sharma met with Rohan Jaitley, Chairman of the BCCI Infrastructure Committee and President of the Delhi Cricket Association, to discuss the development of new world-class cricket stadia in Jammu and Kashmir.

Recognizing the vast sporting talent within the Union Territory, the Minister advocated for modern infrastructure that would allow the region to host prestigious national and international cricket events.

These proposed facilities are intended to provide young athletes with professional training environments and foster a robust sports culture across J&K.

Additionally, the Minister held a productive meeting with Union Minister Jiten Prasada to streamline the implementation of various development projects across several departments, including Transport and Science & Technology.

The discussions focused on strengthening the coordination between the Central Government and the Union Territory to accelerate public service delivery and infrastructure upgrades. Sharma reiterated the J&K government’s firm commitment to promoting sports and ensuring effective governance through continued collaboration with national bodies and central ministries, positioning the region as a key contributor to the vision of a developed India.
