KATHUA, DECEMBER 27: Member Legislative Assembly Billawar, Satish Kumar Sharma, and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & HoFF J&K, Suresh Kumar Gupta, officially inaugurated the newly developed Biodiversity Park cum Nagar Van at Sukral within the Billawar Forest Division. This green initiative aims to enhance the ecological footprint of the region while providing a serene environmental space for locals and pilgrims.
During the ceremony, Sharma praised the Forest Department for strategically developing this green zone in close proximity to the revered pilgrimage site of Mata Sukrala, noting its potential to boost eco-tourism.Addressing the gathering, Suresh Kumar Gupta detailed the ongoing conservation projects led by the Forest Department across the division. He urged department functionaries to remain vigilant and dedicated in their efforts to safeguard the region’s vital green cover and diverse wildlife. The inauguration marks a milestone in the state’s urban forestry goals, blending biodiversity conservation with public recreational spaces.
Following the inauguration, the officials conducted a comprehensive inspection of several infrastructure projects in the area. They reviewed the progress of the up-gradation work at Neta Ji Subash Chander Bose Park in Phinter and assessed developments at the Challan Nursery.
The tour also included visits to the Eco-Park at Chown, the new awareness center at Totali Park, and the upgraded inspection hut at Nagrota Gujroo. The delegation included DDC member N.D Tripathi, Conservator of Forests East Circle Jammu Pradeepchandra P. Wahule, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Billawar Vinay Khosla, alongside senior divisional forest officers and staff.
